Ventura County Rx Drug Disposal Locations

Opioid and prescription drug abuse is a rising issue across all demographics, but especially a problem among teens. In 2011, studies found that 2 million student-aged youth were abusing prescription drugs (Source). Adults and parents with legitimate prescriptions often don’t consider the abuse potential here and neglect to take precautions with their pills. One way that Ventura County is aiming to correct this is by providing drop-off locations.

“VCBH Alcohol and Drug Programs, in collaboration with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, established a countywide Rx disposal program that allows residents to safely dispose of unused, unwanted, or expired Rx medication via secure, confidential disposal bins.” Call your local police department to arrange a safe drop off.
