Social Host Ordinance strikes again

The local Social Host Ordinance was used in Ventura to cite the hosts of an out-of-control party recently. According to the Ventura County Star, responded to reports of a large fight about 12:50 a.m. The 19-year-old host was cited in connection to a social host liability ordinance from the city, due to the fight, presence of underage drinkers and the vandalism to a patrol unit, officials said.

Social Host Ordinances are local laws with civil penalties (fines) providing law enforcement a tool for addressing underage drinking in home party settings, and to deter those who may host a loud or unruly party.
