Show your “sign of support” as like-minded community members take to the streets of Ventura!
We will be making cardboard signs that feature specific text (see below). Then, signs in hand, we’ll stand quietly along busy streets in our community in an effort to get Venturans thinking about the homeless in their community. We aren’t collecting money. We aren’t engaging in debate. We are quietly creating awareness of a serious need in our community.
It is our hope that some of those who see the signs will take a moment to think about those in our community without a roof over their heads. We also hope that some of those people will take the next step and find out what they can do to help.
Three ways you/your organization can participate in the Cardboard Sign Brigade:
- Come to the Unitarian Universalist Church (5654 Ralston Street, Ventura) at 2:00 p.m. and we’ll have all the cardboard, markers and camaraderie to get you motivated and on your way!
- Download the attached sign [PDF] and attach it to a piece of cardboard and display it on the sidewalk, adjacent to a busy street between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
- Make your own cardboard sign – using the downloadable guidelines — and display it adjacent to a busy street between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. See the downloadable guidelines (below) for sign, event, and other information.
