Heather O’Neill, coordinator for Straight Up’s Let’s Talk program, presents a series of helpful posts, resources, and articles on a regular basis for the Straight Up blog.
Before deciding to embark on the challenging task of approaching your teen with “THE TALK,” pack your tool kit with some valuable background information. These two articles tell it like it is, as well as give you hope that you can indeed have a positive impact on your teen’s well-being and choices:
“Teen and Sexual Risk Taking” – What parents need to know to handle the potential of their teen making risky decisions about sexuality, and how parents can help to decrease that possibility
“Teens, Sex and Alcohol” – How alcohol combines with sex in teen party culture to increase risks, and how parents can make a difference

make sure you have some controll over your teens almost every teen is getting into drugs and alcohol now and if parents and adults would just stop and think about why and how were all feeling its mainly every problem is someone died in there life that they really cared about or they grow up watching there parents do the same thing and were just trying to be who are parents are alot of kids are just going through some hard times and we see drugs and alcohol as are pain relief and cigarettes are becoming a thing with kids cause they think its another way to relive the pain and honestly i think it does it makes you more relaxed and calmer so parents should talk to there kids not yell and scream cause there watching there parents do it while there growing up and have a lot of stress on themselfs all kids cant help themselves for what there going through.
