Alcohol Marketing and Teen Drinking: A Youth Voice for Change

Teens are bombarded with alcohol messages all over the United States, not just here in Ventura County. Fortunately, many teens are also taking action and making change!

Our Name, a youth empowerment policy project, created a presentation on behalf of Adcare Educational Institute of Maine (with support from the Maine Office of Substance Abuse) that raises awareness about alcohol advertising and how this can be dangerous and irresponsible.

Even though the statistics are specific to Maine, these numbers are not too different from California. And the message stays the same — alcohol advertising can contribute to making an environment that can make it look like it’s okay to binge drink or to drink while underage. This great video combines examples, statistics and interviews to make an impact, and start making change!
