Many thanks to our entrants of our 2014 Straight Up video contest! We appreciate all the young people who put their time and talent towards submitting excellent prevention videos.

First Place

Ain’t No Party without Drugs
Ethan C. and fellow River Oaks Academy video students, 15, Simi Valley/Westlake Village
Ethan’s use of humor balanced with clear consequences made an impact on our judges. While we always look for ideas for making positive change, it’s good to be reminded of how sneaky and destructive drug use can be — like a houseguest that refuses to leave.

Second Place

Choice
Diego R., 15, Fillmore
Powerful and unique, this video gives us a useful reminder to talk to our parents and to our children — before its too late. The judges applaud Diego’s creativity and innovation in this video.

Third Place

My Sunshine
Elwood W., 14, Thousand Oaks
This is a video that is almost hard to watch with its explicit consequences of impaired driving — hence its power. The judges were very impressed by Elwood’s editing and production values.
